Ethiopia's Defence Minister Promotes Pan-Africanism as Path to Global Influence

Africa can be a global role model, says Ethiopia's Defence Minister Engineer Aisha Mohammed, emphasizing unity, cooperation, and mutual respect as key ingredients. This statement came during a meeting with a military delegation from Niger Republic, led by Lieutenant General Salifo Modi. Minister Mohammed reiterated Ethiopia's belief that African challenges require African solutions.

Lieutenant General Salifo Modi praised Ethiopia as a great nation, stating that Ethiopia has paid a high price to ensure the freedom of nations during times of crisis, both within the country and across the continent. He expressed Niger's need for Ethiopian support in military and security matters and their commitment to collaborative efforts. Niger hopes to learn from Ethiopia's military experience and military training institutions to build a modern and strong military.

The discussion also touched upon the challenges posed by terrorist groups that move across borders, highlighting the necessity of collaborative efforts with neighboring countries.

Major General Teshome Gemechu stated that the Ethiopian Defence Force is a heroic army that prioritizes the people above all else, embodying this value in its actions; an army that willingly sacrifices its precious lives for the honor of its country and its flag.
