Former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has urged African nations to harness their youthful population for peacebuilding and comprehensive development. Speaking at the opening of a diplomatic conference of African youth leaders in Addis Ababa, Hailemariam stressed the need for collaborative efforts to unlock Africa's potential.
The former prime minister emphasized that Africa, with its ancient history, diverse cultures, and abundant natural resources, needs collaborative efforts to achieve peace and realize its full development potential. He highlighted that 60% of Africa's population is young and urged leveraging this youthful energy for peacebuilding and the continent's overall development.

Minister Kejela Merdasa, the Prime Minister's advisor on youth and sports, emphasized the crucial role of youth in achieving Agenda 2063. Professor Patrice Lumumba, a renowned Pan-Africanist, reiterated the importance of African youth for the continent's future.
