Ethiopia, Cuba Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Adam Farah, Vice President of the Prosperity Party and head of the Coordination Center for Democracy, has held discussions with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla and his delegation on enhancing Ethiopia-Cuba relations.

During the meeting, Adam Farah highlighted the deep historical ties between the two nations, emphasizing their strong bond, forged through shared sacrifices.

He affirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic cooperation in various sectors, including people-to-people relations.

He also noted Cuba’s longstanding support for Ethiopia, particularly in human resource development. Over 4,000 Ethiopians have benefited from educational opportunities in Cuba.

Additionally, he acknowledged Cuba’s significant contribution to Ethiopia’s healthcare sector and stressed the need to expand this cooperation further.

Adam Farah provided an overview of Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms, which he said are yielding promising results.

He highlighted the country’s achievement of self-sufficiency in wheat production, advancements in the manufacturing sector, and progress in developing a digital economy. Ethiopia, he assured, is committed to deepening its collaboration with Cuba in various fields.

For his part, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla praised the 50-year-long diplomatic relations between the two nations.

He commended Ethiopia’s role in promoting peace and stability in Africa and emphasized the potential for even stronger bilateral ties.

He pointed out that both countries could expand their partnership in trade and investment, stating that economic cooperation should be elevated to a higher level.

Additionally, he expressed Cuba’s readiness to enhance collaboration in culture, sports, and education, recognizing the favorable conditions for such initiatives.

As part of his visit, the Cuban Foreign Minister laid a wreath at the Ethio-Cuba Friendship Park and toured the National Palace.
