Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Kassahun Gofe has held talks with Russian Federation Minister of Economic Development and Trade Maxim Reshetnikov.
In a post shared on his social media account regarding the talks, Kassahun Gofe noted that Ethiopia and Russia have long-standing diplomatic and economic relations.
He also said that constructive discussions were held on issues that could lead to strong trade cooperation between the two countries based on the existing historical relationship.
The minister, who stated that an agreement had been reached to expand Ethiopia’s export trade with Russia; in particular, he indicated that the two agreed to import flower products from Ethiopia .
Maxim Reshetnikov, for his part, promised to support Ethiopia’s bid to join WTO.
He also mentioned that the economic transformation that Ethiopia has been showing in various sectors since the economic reforms is encouraging.
He pointed out that trade relations between the two countries are growing; he stated that Ethiopia and Russia have carried out trade transactions worth 389 million dollars in the year 2024 alone.
