The Commissioner General of the Ethiopian Federal Police commissioner, Demelash Gebremichael, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Inspector General of the Rwanda National Police, Felix Namuhoranye, to strengthen police-to-police relations and cooperation.
In a joint press statement, Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael and Inspector General Felix Namuhoranye said that the police institutions of the two countries have agreed to jointly prevent terrorism, human trafficking and cross-border crimes by exchanging information.
They expressed their agreement to train young police officers at the Ethiopian Police University and the Rwanda National Police Academy using the technological and other capabilities of the police institutions of the two countries.
They also discussed working together to jointly strengthen the East African Police Cooperation Platform and strengthen institutions such as AFRIPOL beyond East Africa.
They also agreed to jointly prepare an African candidate for the 2025 Interpol presidential election, furthering cooperation between the police institutions of the two countries.
In addition to contributing to ensuring the security of the two countries, they pledged contribution to the East African region and the world, according to the Ethiopian Federal Police.
