The manifestation of Ethiopia's ancient civilization, home to diverse history and culture, Jimma city is ranked among the tourist destination cities in Ethiopia. The city administration is in a rush to make its tourist destinations accessible to local and foreign visitors.
In an exclusive interview with EBC World, head of Jimma city's tourism office, Nejib Raya, said, "The city administration is focusing on the city's beautification and infrastructural renovation in order to highlight the city's tourism destination, as well as to increase income from the sector."
As head of tourism office of Jimma city Administration further disclosed that, "The carefully maintained Jimma Museum houses, the historical relics of Aba Jifar, the last king of Jimma, as well as the history, culture and civilization of ancient, contemporary and modern Ethiopia, so it is a unique destination for history-loving visitors."
Kibru Tesfaye, Jimma Museum manager and tour guide said that "the 40 historical mosques and the cemetery of King Abajifar and other royal families are the most historic tourist destination in Jimma city".
It's to be recalled that Jimma and its surroundings are the right destination for those who want to see the history and civilization of Ethiopia from yesterday to today.
