The third Mining and Technology Expo 2024 has kicked off today in Addis Ababa. The aim of the expo is to unlock Ethiopia's significant but underutilized mining sector. President Taye Atske Selassie, along with the diplomatic corps, exporters, and exhibitors, attended the event.
In his keynote speech President Taye Atskeselassie reiterated that to ensure equitable and fair global mining landscape a practice must be put in place which would allow African countries to extract, utilize and market their resources.
Ethiopia's reformed economic policies and open market have created a favorable investment climate, according to Mining Minister Engineer Habtamu Tegegn.
He also stated that the country's updated mining policy is designed for ease of operation and to ensure benefits for local communities.
