Ethiopia has expressed it's desire to enhance cooperation with Slovenia, particularly in technology transfer, agriculture, and higher education.
Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos (PhD), held discussions on Friday at his office with the Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon.
During their discussion, Minister Timothewos noted that Slovenia, as a member of the European Union and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, provides a great opportunity to strengthen Ethiopia’s relationship with the European Union and the United Nations.
He highlighted Ethiopia's favorable investment environment, which has been created through ongoing economic reforms, and encouraged Slovenian companies to invest in Ethiopia.
He also emphasized Ethiopia's significant role in promoting peace and stability, particularly in relation to the post-ATMIS process, expressing Ethiopia’s commitment to careful planning and collaboration.
The Minister further acknowledged Ethiopia's continued role in fighting extremism in the region and reassured that Ethiopia would maintain close cooperation with the international community to prevent any backsliding in these efforts.
Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, on her part confirmed her country's readiness to work together with Ethiopia on both bilateral and multilateral fronts.
She specifically mentioned Slovenia's willingness to share its expertise and experience in technology transfer, water management, agriculture, particularly beekeeping, and human resource development with Ethiopia.
Both ministers attended the official opening of the newly established Slovenian embassy in Addis Ababa today.
