Ethiopia Aims To Preserve Strong Diplomatic Ties

Ethiopia is poised to strengthen its global presence," said Foreign Minister Gideon Timotheos (PhD), highlighting the country's commitment to building a network of strong partnerships for mutual benefit.

This unfolded when Foreign Minister Gideon addressed various assortment of topics during a meeting with officials from foreign embassies and organizations based in Addis Ababa at Skylight Hotel on Thursday.

Ethiopia is an ancient nation with a long history of governance, the minister added, incorporating that it has a bright future by adhering to moral principles in diplomacy and international relations.

He remarked that Ethiopia will be able to advance its economic ties with other nations as a result of its recent adoption of a comprehensive macroeconomic policy overhaul. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia will do more than ever to promote people-to-people relations, trade, tourism, and transportation based on African brotherhood. 

He stipulated adding that Ethiopia is an emerging nation with a rapidly expanding economy. The Ministry will also collaborate with UN agencies to accomplish its objectives. According to the minister, Ethiopia will keep enhancing its significant role in both bilateral and multilateral diplomatic ties.

Minister Gideon asserts that by adhering to the idea of fostering cooperation with its neighbours, Ethiopia will take the lead in fostering regional cooperation.

He added that Ethiopia will continue to carry out its strategic role in IGAD and that the ministry will continue to fortify ties with the nations of the Nile River basin.

"The Ethiopian government is very much committed to working together to make the 21st century comfortable for Africans by making every effort to achieve Agenda 2063," he said. 

It was also learned that members of the diplomatic corps extended their best wishes to Minister Gideon in his new role and expressed their commitment to continued close collaboration with Ethiopia.
