UK’s New PM Cancelled Plan for Rwanda

UK’s newly elected prime Minister, Kier Starmer announced Saturday, the Rwanda migrants’ deportation plan would be canceled.

The contentious deportation plan was approved by the previous while UK Supreme Court ruled out that the plan was unlawful on human rights grounds.

On Saturday’s news conference, Starmer said the Rwanda scheme was widely expected to fail.

“Everyone has worked out, particularly the gangs that run this, that the chance of ever going to Rwanda was so slim – less than 1 percent,” he told reporters.

Starmer on his first press conference as a UK PM said he was "not prepared" to continue with the deportation plan to Rwandan migrants who reached the UK via risky and unlawful means, mentioning the plan “dead and buried”.

"The Rwanda scheme was dead and buried before it started. It's never been a deterrent," he said.
