Teachers are set to receive increased support and their concerns addressed as Addis Ababa City Administration Mayor Adanech Abiebie affirmed the government's commitment to educators. The mayor highlighted their crucial role in shaping future generations and contributing to national development.
During a city-wide teachers' discussion at the Adwa Victory Memorial, operating under the mantra "The Generation is Shaped by Teachers; the Nation Prospers Through Education," Mayor Adanech underscored teachers' significant impact on nation-building. She pointed out that the government has allocated a substantial budget to empower teachers and enhance educational infrastructure, signaling a strong focus on the sector's growth.
Mayor Adanech acknowledged that progress in education is a collective effort, stating, "The changes in the education sector bear the mark of everyone, including teachers." She called for joint problem-solving and reiterated the city administration's dedication to fulfilling teachers' needs and upholding educational quality.
Looking ahead, the mayor announced that digital IDs would soon be issued to provide teachers with free transportation. Addressing a key request from educators, Mayor Adanech also pledged accelerated support for the construction of a teachers' hospital, where teachers and their families will receive free medical treatment. She assured that all teachers' questions would be given due attention and receive responses in the short, medium, and long term.
