Chinese and Ethiopian authorities have emphasized the need for deepening cooperation between China and Africa to invigorate growth in the Global South and strengthen modernization and high-quality development throughout Africa.
The statements were made during a seminar titled "China in Springtime: Sharing Opportunities with the World Global Dialogue,"which took place on Tuesday in Addis Ababa. The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia and China Media Group.
Addressing the audience, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai expressed China's willingness to share its modernization expertise to facilitate high-quality development in Ethiopia and other African nations."In the midst of global uncertainties, China remains a pillar of stability for peace and development. From deepening high-level openness to advancing high-quality Belt and Road collaboration, from promoting inclusive economic globalization to spearheading reforms in global governance, China is steadfastly upholding its commitment to constructing a community of shared destiny for humanity,"stated Chen.
The ambassador highlighted that China will continue to foster its diplomatic ties with Africa and other nations based on the principles of shared destiny, peaceful progress, opposition to hegemony, and advocacy for international equity.
Ethiopian State Minister of Planning and Development Bereket Fesehatsion affirmed that Ethiopia-China cooperation epitomizes the expanding South-South collaboration, with China serving as a crucial partner in Ethiopia's economic metamorphosis through the provision of long-term loans and grants for infrastructure development."China's policy of reform and openness presents a distinctive opportunity for African nations to deepen their integration into the global value chain,"remarked Fesehatsion, underscoring Ethiopia's eagerness to leverage the opportunities arising from China's Belt and Road Initiative to promote sustainable development, regional connectivity, trade, investment, and tourism.
Fekadu Tsega, Director General of the Policy Studies Institute of Ethiopia, highlighted the flourishing relations between Africa and China, with a growing cooperation in industrial advancement, capacity enhancement, and technology transfer."The Chinese approach to modernization emphasizes innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability, harmonizing economic growth and poverty alleviation. China's progress offers valuable insights for Africa, especially in the realm of sustainability,"Tsega emphasized. He emphasized that the economic advancement in Africa-China collaboration underscores resilience, innovation, and sustainability, and their partnership can play a pivotal role in fostering modernization and high-quality development among their populations.
