Thirty-two Ethiopians who were detained and facing hardship in Myanmar have returned to their country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Embassy in India, 32 out of 133 Ethiopians who crossed into Thailand have been repatriated.
It is expected that 43 more Ethiopians will arrive tonight, and the embassy is working to return the remaining 58 Ethiopians held in Thailand.
In related news, the government is working to bring other Ethiopians in difficult situations in Myanmar to Thailand, via the Ethiopian embassy in Japan, and then back to Ethiopia, according to FBC.
The Ministry's information also urged the public to be wary of false promises made by human traffickers, and to avoid illegal migration to countries where employment contracts are not guaranteed.
