Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia has delivered a stunning performance at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup on Sunday, clocking a time of 3:53.92 in the 1500m.
This remarkable feat places her second on the all-time indoor list, just shy of her own world record of 3:53.09. The race, the penultimate Gold level meeting of the World Athletics Indoor Tour, saw Gudaf bounce back from a 3000m defeat earlier in the week.
This latest achievement adds to her impressive collection, as she now holds the three fastest women's indoor 1500m times ever recorded. Her performance comfortably outpaced her young compatriot Birke Haylom (3:59.82) and Worknesh Mesele (4:02.19), who completed an Ethiopian sweep of the top three, according to World Athletics.
With the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing fast approaching, Gudaf's performance solidifies her position as a strong contender.
