Ethiopia, Rwanda to Boost Regional Cooperation

The Ethiopian government and the ruling Prosperity Party will continue to strengthen their cooperation with Rwanda for regional peace and prosperity, according to Adam Farah, Head of the Democracy System Building Coordination Center and Deputy chairman of the Prosperity Party.

Adem met and spoke with the Secretary General of Rwanda's ruling Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), Wellars Gasamagera, at his office. Gasamagera was in Addis Ababa to attend the second regular congress of the Prosperity Party.

Gasamagera expressed his delight at the RPF's victory in the national elections held last July, securing the people's vote and mandate.

Adem stated that the Prosperity Party is focusing on peace and economic development, and has delivered on its promises to the people made at its first congress. He highlighted Ethiopia's rapid economic growth. He also noted progress in wheat, vegetable, fruit, rice, and other agricultural products, aligning with the party's first congress's focus on increasing production and productivity.

He further explained that the corridor development initiative, launched in Addis Ababa under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's leadership, is now being implemented in over 50 cities, and that rural corridor development has also begun. The government, he added, is prioritizing agriculture, tourism, industry, mining, and digital sectors to address citizens' development needs.

Adem emphasized the party's focus on peace and prosperity, highlighting ongoing party-to-party and government-to-government cooperation with Rwanda. He stated that Ethiopia and Rwanda will continue to strengthen their collaboration for bilateral, regional, and continental peace and prosperity.

In turn, Gasamagera noted Ethiopia's remarkable journey of transformation and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome. He mentioned Rwanda's successes in overcoming complex challenges, implementing extensive reconstruction and development projects, and benefiting its people. He commended the Prosperity Party's achievements in implementing actions that uplift Ethiopia and benefit its citizens.

Both parties confirmed that they will continue to strengthen cooperation in various areas, both party-to-party and government-to-government. Gasamagera also extended his best wishes for the Prosperity Party's second regular congress.
