Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) has played an irreplaceable role in bringing athletics to the public, according to Athletics Federation leaders.
Leaders of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, including President Commander Sileshi Sehin and Vice President Athlete Meseret Defar, visited EBC's media complex in Shegole. Following the visit, leaders from both organizations held discussions on areas of collaboration.
EBC's CEO, Getnet Tadesse, stated that EBC is highly focused on the development of athletics and will continue its significant contributions to the sport's growth. Discussions included live broadcasts of athletic competitions and other collaborative projects.
Commander Sileshi Sehin, President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, shared that he began his running journey after listening to sports news on Ethiopian Radio. He praised EBC, calling it an institution that nurtured him and many others. He expressed his happiness at witnessing EBC's growth and modernization through its use of advanced technology in radio and television broadcasting.
EBC's recognition of Athlete Meseret Defar's work as an analyst during the Paris Olympics was also noted.
Vice President Athlete Meseret Defar stated, "EBC is a huge institution that has broadcast the competitions of all Ethiopian athletes, including myself, live on radio and television since long ago." She also expressed her pleasure at the visit to the EBC media complex and the discussions held regarding future collaborations.
