Reviving Gondar's Glory

President Arega Kebede of the Amhara Regional State has articulated a robust vision for the region's future, emphasizing the preservation and strategic development of its rich historical and natural heritage.

President Arega reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to the people of Amhara, highlighting the vital role of the region's patrimony in shaping a prosperous and sustainable future.

"Our administration is deeply invested in safeguarding the irreplaceable treasures of the Amhara Region. These historical landmarks and natural wonders are not merely relics of the past; they are the foundation upon which we will build a better tomorrow for all the people of Amhara. We are dedicated to protecting these precious resources, adding value to them, and ensuring they serve as powerful symbols of our shared identity for present and future generations,” President Arega disclosed.

The President specifically highlighted the ongoing renovations in the historical city of Gondar, emphasizing the significance of the Fasil Ghebbi (Royal Enclosure) and its surrounding churches.

"The meticulous restoration work in Gondar is a powerful demonstration of our resolve. We are committed to transforming Gondar into a beacon of cultural tourism and investment. This will involve not only revitalizing its magnificent sites but also addressing the obstacles that have obscured its beauty and hidden its potential,” President Arega explained.

He emphasized that the aim is to unveil and celebrate every aspect of Gondar's inherent value.

President Arega further underscored that the ambitious development efforts witnessed in Gondar are not isolated. "We are determined to replicate this dedication to sustainable and inclusive development in other cities and towns throughout the region," he declared, "strengthening our commitment to good governance and ensuring that every citizen benefits from the economic growth we strive to achieve."

In a pledge of transparency and accountability, President Arega stressed the government's approach: "We are adopting a practice of making only those promises that we know we can fulfil for our people. Our projects will be thoughtfully conceived and executed to bring tangible benefits to the economic and social development of our region, and by extension, to the prosperity of Ethiopia as a whole.”

He called for unity and collaboration in the realization of this shared vision for a thriving Amhara region.
