AfDB Commends Ethiopia's Reforms, Pledges Increased Support

Ethiopia's economic reforms have earned praise from the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Ethiopia's Finance Minister, Ahmed Shide, met with Solomon Quaynor, Vice President of the Private Sector, Infrastructure, and Industrialization Complex of the African Development Bank (AfDB), to discuss enhanced development cooperation.

During the meeting, Minister Ahmed acknowledged the AfDB's significant role in supporting Ethiopia's development, with current investments exceeding $1.2 billion across various sectors. He highlighted the country's ambitious Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda, emphasizing its focus on building a more sustainable and inclusive economy through investments in key sectors like infrastructure, energy, digital connectivity, and sustainability.

In response, Quaynor commended Ethiopia's successful macroeconomic reforms and expressed the AfDB's commitment to increasing support for private sector engagement, recognizing the favorable investment climate created by the country's reform efforts.

Both sides agreed to expand collaboration on transformative private sector projects in strategic areas, according to the Ministry of Finance.
