Woldiya Hospital Oxygen Production, a Lifeline for North Wollo

Woldiya General Specialized Hospital has begun producing its own oxygen for medical use. The oxygen production machine cost 70 million Birr.

A biomedical professional at the hospital, Yosef Mihrete, stated that the trial production of oxygen has begun to address the hospital's oxygen shortage. He explained that previously, the hospital relied on importing oxygen from Dessie and private hospitals, which made it difficult to obtain the necessary amount in a timely manner, impacting healthcare services.

To solve this problem, an oxygen production machine has been installed and started production. The machine has a capacity to produce up to 200 cylinders per day, according to ENA.

The ability to produce and use its own oxygen will not only improve the quality of medical care provided but will also allow other health facilities in North Wollo and Woldiya city to access the product at an affordable price.
