Armed Group Surrenders in Amhara Region's Awi Zone

Armed forces operating in Gisana and its environs in Dangila District have surrendered to the government with all their weapons.

In Amhara Region's Awi Zone, Dangila District, armed forces led by Mengstu Genet, who were active in Gisana and the surrounding areas, have surrendered with all their weapons. The Awi Zone Administrator, Tewodros Endalew, welcomed the surrendering fighters, praising their commitment to peace and reconciliation with the people.

He added, "Let the fighting based on false narratives end; let's return to our unity. By choosing the path of peace, you have contributed to lasting peace in our country." He also urged other members of the group still in hiding to return to peace and contribute to maintaining it.

Regional communication reports indicate that the armed forces surrendered various weapons to the government. The surrender ceremony was attended by zone core leaders, members of the mini-cabinet, religious leaders, and district and city administration officials.
