The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) trophy has arrived in Dilla, a city in the Gedeo Zone of Southern Ethiopia, where it received a warm welcome. Its stay in Southern Ethiopia began today in Dilla.
Zena Mamo, head of the Gedeo Zone government's communication office, said that the trophy will remain in the zone for one month. She stated that the aim is to raise over 120 million Birr during its stay through bond sales. She urged the community to strengthen its support for the completion of the dam by participating in bond purchases.
The trophy's arrival was met with a vibrant welcome ceremony. Attendees included the Deputy Administrator of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region, Gebremeskel Chala, along with other federal, regional, and zonal officials, community leaders, Aba Gedas and members of the public ENA reported.
