Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh and First Lady Zenash Tayachew have visited Gondar, accompanied by Amhara Regional State President Arega Kebede and senior officials. On the occasion, the deputy prime minster stated that Gondar is working to return to its historical heights.
While visiting the various development projects in and around Gondar city, DPM Temesgen noted that the construction of the Megech Dam, stalled for years, is now progressing 24/7 thanks to the special attention given by the reformist government. Upon completion, the project will be crucial for providing clean drinking water to Gondar and irrigation services to surrounding districts. He observed that the dam's construction is proceeding at a rapid pace, ensuring its completion in the near future.
The Deputy Prime Minister also visited the restoration project of the historical Fasil Ghebbi royal enclosure. He commented that, "We have seen that the restoration is at a good stage; the historical site is undergoing a beautiful architectural restoration that preserves its historical content."
He highlighted the government's careful development of Gondar's cultural corridor, while preserving its architectural heritage. He also expressed gratitude to the community of Gondar and its surroundings for their support in maintaining peace and accelerating development.
Finally, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh posted on his social media page 'Gondar is beautiful when history, development, and peace converge. And it's moving in that direction.'
