Raila Amolo Odinga, Kenya's candidate for the position of African Union Commission Chairperson, will unveil his vision and priorities for the continent in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Friday, November 8th, 2024.

The event, taking place at the AU Multipurpose Hall from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, follows the official launch of his candidature by President William Ruto in Nairobi on August 27th.

The Nairobi launch, attended by East African Community leaders, signified significant regional and continental support for Odinga's bid.

The Addis Ababa event will serve as a platform for Odinga to present his vision and implementation plan for addressing Africa's most pressing challenges, while seizing existing and emerging opportunities within the framework of the African Union's Agenda 2063.

Odinga's Pan-Africanist vision prioritizes a prosperous and self-reliant Africa, encompassing economic transformation, enhanced intra-African trade and infrastructure, financial independence, gender equity and equality, agricultural transformation, climate action, harnessing youth potential, continental integration, digital transformation, and peace and security.

The event will bring together representatives from African Union Member States, Regional Economic Communities, business leaders, youth, women representatives, and civil society, highlighting Odinga's commitment to an inclusive and inter-generational approach in shaping Africa's future. This approach aims to ensure the continent takes its rightful place in the global arena.

Following the event, a media luncheon will be held in Addis Ababa on November 9th at 12:30 PM, providing an opportunity for Odinga to engage with the media.
