Ethiopia's Minister of Labor and Skills, Muferihat Kamil, has emphasized the need for a new vision and operational changes to expand job creation and sustain national transformation. She stated that for a nation striving for prosperity, job creation requires a fundamental shift in thinking and approach, demanding significant attention.
The Ministry of Labor and Skills has launched training on public entrepreneurship and innovation for Gambella regional leaders focused on public entrepreneurship and building an innovation ecosystem. Minister Muferihat speaking at the training launch, highlighted the crucial role of all stakeholders, particularly leadership, in developing job creation and skills development to fully utilize the country's potential.
She stressed the need for a new perspective, along with changes in mindset, procedures, and organizational structure, to expand job creation and continue national transformation. She underscored the importance of prioritizing job creation and skills development to achieve national prosperity goals. She further stressed the matter of job creation is of paramount importance, surpassing achieving daily bread or income. She described job creation as a national priority requiring fundamental change, urging a forward-thinking approach to fully utilize regional development potential.
The Gambella regional administrator, Alemitu Umud, acknowledged ongoing efforts to expand job creation with adequate knowledge and skills. However, she admitted that these efforts fall short of the region's and the nation's potential, calling for intensified work to achieve better results. She urged regional leaders to prioritize and focus on achieving better growth in job creation. The head of the regional Labor and Skills office, Rwach Bayek, stated that the training will help leaders expand their understanding of job creation, fostering a coordinated approach and enabling them to fulfill their responsibilities.
