The World Condemning Trump Assassination Attempt

Global leaders have been condemning the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump since the shots were heard around the world.

While Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau wrote on X he was “sickened by the shooting.”  And “Political violence is never acceptable,” UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, also on X he was “appalled by the shocking scenes.” “Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack,” Starmer added.

Rivals alike allies were also quick to react by condemning the assassination attempt on Trump at his campaign rally in Pennsylvania. US trade rival, China expressed President Xi Jinping’s sympathies through its Foreign Ministry.  

Russia had “always condemned and we strongly condemn any manifestations of violence during political struggle,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, adding “We don’t at all think and don’t believe that the attempt to eliminate presidential candidate Trump was organized by the current government.”

“Violence has no place in politics and democracies,” condemned Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and showed sympathy saying “deeply concerned by the attack on my friend.”

A “speedy recovery” wishes came from French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.  France shared “the shock and indignation of the American people,” Macron added, as the chancellor warned “Such acts of violence threaten democracy.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X: “such violence has no justification and no place anywhere in the world.”  

As Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sends strong condemnation of the incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he and his wife, Sara, were “shocked” by Saturday’s incident.

South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, said the attempted assassination of Trump "is a stark reminder of the dangers of political extremism and intolerance."
