The Ethiopian Immigration & Citizenship Service disclosed that it has been working to make it possible for passports to be printed domestically.
When the effort comes off, it will go a long way to remove barriers encountered in the provision of services.
In an exclusive interview with EBC, ICS Director, Getachew Wendimu, disclosed that over 600,000 applicants have received passports this year.
The ICS is working round the clock to address grievances by customers regarding irregularities in service provision.
Long lines for service are often formed due to users missing their appointments. To make matters worse, says the Director, resource limitations coupled with digital deficiencies have been slowing down the provision of service.
Getachew told EBC World that the ICS is whipping up remedial measures with the view to eliminate the barriers in technology and human resources.
In the aftermath of the corrective actions, the ICS has managed to knock down the waiting period for passports to two months maximum up from one year.//
