The republic of Congo just deposited a Signed Instrument of Acceptance signifying completion of the full membership process for the Organization of Southern Cooperation (OSC).
Countries in the Global South are forging alliance to achieve common development objectives, such as poverty reduction, sustainable development, healthcare improvements, and infrastructure upgrades, based on mutual interests and solidarity.
Briefing the media, OSC Secretary General, Manssour Ben Mussallam, expressed the full membership of the Republic of Congo as a historic move.
The Organization of Southern Cooperation an entity for South-South cooperation plays a vital role in promoting sustainable development, fostering partnerships, and advancing the collective interests of developing countries in a collaborative and inclusive manner, emphasizing solidarity, respect for sovereignty, and shared responsibility for addressing global challenges.
Congolese Ambassador to Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the African Union, Daniel Owassa for his part underscored that the full membership will bring prospect for his country and will accelerate South-South cooperation.
As of July 2023, the OSC is comprised of Founding and Member States from the Latin American and Caribbean, African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Pacific Island countries.//
