During the discussion, Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergoge Tesfaye (PhD), said Ethiopia is making great efforts in preventing irregular migration as well as protecting and rehabilitating returnees.

Among these activities, she mentioned that the work of repatriating citizens who are at risk of illegal migration to their country of origin is being carried out on a large scale.

She said that the government is paying attention to stopping irregular migration from its source and making Ethiopia a comfortable country for its citizens.

Ergoge stressed that citizens returning from migration, especially children who lost their parents in course, should be given attention to create a context in which they can get back to normal life after being properly supported.

Her ministry will continue to work in cooperation and coordination with institutions such as the IOM to reduce the humanitarian crisis that irregular migration is causing to Ethiopia and its citizens, Ergoge said.
