Ethiopia's Top Diplomat Boosts Ties with DRC, Norway in Key Talks

Ethiopia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, has held significant separate meetings yesterday with his counterparts from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Norway, cementing bilateral relations and tackling pressing regional and global issues.

In a move to deepen African solidarity and cooperation, Minister Gedion met with Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, the DRC's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Francophonie. The high-level discussion saw both ministers commit to strengthening bilateral ties across various sectors and exchange crucial views on regional and continental peace and security, guided by the principle of "African Solutions to African Problems." A tangible outcome of their meeting was the signing of a comprehensive General Cooperation Agreement, which outlines extensive areas for collaboration and establishes a Joint Ministerial Commission to drive future initiatives.

Separately, Minister Gedion engaged with Asmund Gromsrud Aukrust, the Minister of International Development of the Kingdom of Norway. Their meeting focused on exploring new avenues to enhance the strong bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Norway. The ministers also addressed regional and global challenges of mutual concern, reaffirming their shared commitment to boosting collaboration within multilateral forums.

Yesterday's diplomatic engagements underscore Ethiopia's proactive efforts on the international stage to forge stronger partnerships and collectively address shared challenges.
