Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has reiterated Ethiopia's steadfast commitment to supporting the people of South Sudan. In a social media post this Monday afternoon, the Prime Minister stated, "Ethiopia remains committed and will continue to extend its steadfast support to the brotherly people of South Sudan."
The Prime Minister's affirmation came after he received and held discussions with the Vice President of South Sudan. "I received H.E. Benjamin Bol Mel, who delivered a message from my brother, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit. I had a productive discussion with the Vice President," Prime Minister Abiy wrote in his post.
During their meeting, Prime Minister Abiy also emphasized the critical importance of an inclusive regional approach in tackling the ongoing security and political challenges that South Sudan is currently facing. This statement underscores Ethiopia's continued engagement in regional efforts aimed at fostering peace and stability in South Sudan.
