Ethiopia is steadfastly committed to achieving its vision of prosperity by fostering partnerships with neighbouring countries, according to Ambassador Dina Mufti, a prominent member of the FDRE House of Peoples' Representatives Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs.
In a recent statement, he emphasized the nation's dedication to peaceful cooperation as a cornerstone of its foreign policy.
Ambassador Mufti highlighted Ethiopia's successful efforts to cultivate peaceful relations with its neighbours, showcasing these diplomatic strides as a testament to the country’s commitment to mutual growth.
“Our government's initiatives over the years have effectively established a cooperative framework with neighbouring nations,” he stated, underscoring the importance of collaboration in achieving regional stability and development.
For him, a key focus of Ethiopia's foreign policy is enhancing cooperation across various sectors, particularly with neighbouring countries.
The ambassador pointed to recent diplomatic efforts to peacefully resolve disputes with Somalia as an example of Ethiopia's commitment to dialogue over conflict.
“We prioritize our neighbours in our foreign policy, aiming to build trust and foster development through infrastructure projects that benefit all parties involved,” he explained.
MP Ambassador Mufti further asserted that Ethiopia is dedicated to promoting sustainable peace and development across Africa.
He noted the country’s active role in hosting continental and international meetings, as well as participating in bilateral and multilateral forums aimed at strengthening regional ties.
“Ethiopia does not seek to further its interests through war; instead, we believe in resolving conflicts through dialogue and compromise,” Dina stated.
In response to concerns over maritime issues, Ambassador Dina reiterated that while these matters are critical for national survival, Ethiopia has no intention of engaging in war with its neighbours.
It was noted that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed echoed this sentiment in a recent address, reaffirming Ethiopia's commitment to cooperative development with neighbouring countries over the past seven years.
