Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's largest airline, is to launch a new four times weekly passenger service to Hanoi, Vietnam, starting July 10, 2025. The move aims to enhance connectivity between Africa and Southeast Asia, offering more convenient travel options for passengers.
According to Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tasew, the new route will "expand our presence in Southeast Asia and enhance air connectivity for our customers in the region." He added that it will "create opportunities for stronger ties and collaborations between Vietnam and our extensive global network."
The new service will connect Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Airlines' hub, with Hanoi, catering to both business and leisure travelers. The airline anticipates that this new route will boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Ethiopia, while also providing seamless connections to its vast network across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
This expansion reinforces Ethiopian Airlines' position as a leading carrier in Africa, offering enhanced global connectivity and strengthening its presence in the Asia-Africa aviation corridor. The airline currently operates flights to over 160 domestic and international destinations across five continents, utilizing a modern fleet of aircraft. Ethiopian Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance and has received numerous accolades, including Skytrax’s ‘Best Airline in Africa Award’ for seven consecutive years.
