A tripartite memorandum of understanding has been signed between the House of Federation Council, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport, and Addis Ababa University to create a comprehensive Atlas detailing the ethnography and linguistic characteristics of Ethiopia's nationalities and peoples.

The agreement was formalized in a ceremony attended by Speaker of the House of Federation Council, Agegnehu Teshager; Minister of Culture and Sport, Shewit Shanka; and Acting President of Addis Ababa University, Samuel Kifle (Dr.).

During the signing, Speaker Agegnehu Teshager highlighted the numerous benefits of developing the atlas.

He stated that the documented profile of Ethiopian identities will serve the nation in various capacities.

The Speaker noted that while 76 nationalities are officially registered with the council, there are still uncertainties surrounding precise data related to these groups.

The atlas will provide detailed information on each ethnic group and people within Ethiopia, including their geographic location, language, cultural practices, and interrelationships.

Upon completion, the atlas is intended to serve as a valuable reference tool for research and to provide informed responses to questions concerning identity.
