Ethiopia's SWAT Team Heads to Dubai for International Competition

Ethiopia's Federal Police Rapid Response Team (SWAT) has traveled to Dubai to compete in the 2025 International SWAT Challenge, organized by the United Arab Emirates.

The team will participate in the challenge, starting January 24th in Dubai Al Ruwayyah, competing in several categories: Tactical Operations Challenge, Assault Challenge, Officer Rescue Mission, High Tower Climb, and an Obstacle Course.

Federal Police Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael emphasized the importance of the competition, stating that it will allow the team to gain experience in rapid response, learn from international best practices, and enhance their preparedness. Beyond winning, he highlighted the opportunity to share their expertise and showcase Ethiopia's capabilities on a global stage. He instructed the team to maintain professional conduct and represent their country and organization well.

Over 120 SWAT teams from more than 50 countries, including the United States and China, are expected to participate in the competition.
