Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Visit Ethiopia

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to undertake a working visit to Ethiopia and Somalia in the early months of 2025. This visit follows the recent signing of a bilateral agreement between Ethiopia and Somalia, facilitated by President Erdogan.

During a recent engagement with Turkish youth, President Erdogan indicated that the negotiations in Ankara lasted seven hours and were characterized by cooperative efforts between the two nations. He expressed his intention to travel to both countries in January and February, as reported by TRT World.

In his address, President Erdogan highlighted the geographical and demographic differences between Ethiopia and Somalia, noting that while Ethiopia possesses a larger land area and population, it remains landlocked. He emphasized Turkey's ongoing efforts to mitigate tensions arising from this situation.

The President also acknowledged the significant role of his close relationship with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in fostering the effectiveness of the recent agreement. Furthermore, President Erdogan asserted that Turkey's multifaceted relationships with both Ethiopia and Somalia will continue to strengthen.

He concluded by stating that the agreement serves as a declaration to the international community, particularly Africa, that in times of sincerity and good intentions, positive outcomes are achievable.
