President Taye Atskeselassie has reaffirmed Ethiopia's commitment to implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change and taking proactive measures to mitigate its effects.
Speaking at the World Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, the President emphasized Ethiopia's dedication to the UN's 2022 initiative on disaster prevention and preparedness.
"Climate change is putting the rod of destruction in our world today," declared President Taye, highlighting the devastating impact of climate change.
He pointed to the increasing frequency of landslides and floods in Ethiopia and other countries, emphasizing the urgent need for preventative measures to avoid further damage.
The President underscored the critical goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius, emphasizing the need for international cooperation and support to achieve this target.
He stressed that coordinated procedures and support are essential to prevent further destruction and ensure a sustainable future.
