The "Alemfire Pink House Cancer Foundation" charity organization has organized a walk under the theme "Your Strength is My Strength" to commemorate the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Dr. Mekdes Dabba, Minister of Health, who attended the event, stated that the Ministry has developed a strategy to prevent and treat cancer and is actively working on various initiatives.
The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs information indicates that the Minister emphasized the need to support and stand by those who are sick and undergoing treatment.
Dr. Ergoge Tesfaye, Minister of Women and Social Affairs, highlighted the alarming number of women in Ethiopia who are affected by breast and cervical cancer due to lack of awareness and negligence.
She emphasized that cancer is a treatable disease if detected early and urged women to adopt regular cancer screening practices and seek treatment before the disease progresses.
The Ministry, in collaboration with stakeholders, is strengthening its awareness and advocacy efforts to facilitate women's access to early detection and treatment services.
Dr. Frehiwot Derso, Founder and President of the "Alemfire Pink House Cancer Foundation" charity organization, shared that the organization provides free food, shelter, and transportation services to patients from different regions who travel to Black Lion and Gondar University Specialized Hospitals for breast and cervical cancer treatment and lack accommodation.
