Russia and South Sudan discussed Thursday in a Moscow expanding their cooperation in energy, trade and oil, among other areas.
President Salva Kiir and President Vladimir Putin also discussed political and security matters in South Sudan.
The relations between Russia and nations of the African continent are gaining momentum after the two Russian-Africa summits held in 2019 & 2023 respectively.
Both sides, the Russian Federation and African leaders have come to agreements in building win-win treatments between the two sides.
Hosting the South Sudan President Salva Kiir on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said relations between Russia and South Sudan are developing "intensively".
Putin added, "I must say we believe that we have a lot to do, primarily in the area of economic development."
Kiir said he was happy for the warm welcome and stressed that he was in Moscow "as an opening for our long work in the future."
South Sudan needs Moscow’s assistance to the removal of Arms embargo by UNSC, where the latter is a permanent member. The UNSC imposed arms embargo in S. Sudan in first 2018 and renewed it.
South Sudan was one of the African countries present at the 2nd Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg.
