Ethiopia, WIPO Eye Stronger Partnership on Intellectual Property

Ethiopia is poised to deepen its collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), particularly in capacity building and training. This commitment was underscored during a recent meeting between ambassador Hadera Abera, Ethiopia's State Minister of Foreign Affairs, and WIPO Director General Daren Tang.

Ambassador Hadera reiterated Ethiopia's readiness to strengthen ties with WIPO, emphasizing the critical role of intellectual property in national development.

In turn, Director General Tang acknowledged Ethiopia's significant economic potential, rich cultural heritage, and pivotal role in the Pan-Africanism movement. He also notably recognized Ethiopia as the birthplace of coffee. Tang assured Ambassador Hadera that WIPO would prioritize its relationship with Ethiopia, signaling a promising future for intellectual property development in the East African nation.
