The Ethio-Belgian Business Forum, held on June 2, 2025, G.C., in the heart of Ethiopia’s capital, showcased a plethora of investment opportunities in the rapidly growing Ethiopian economy.
Attended by senior government officials, ambassadors, and business leaders from both nations, the forum served as a pivotal platform for fostering bilateral trade relations.
Thomas Deboull, CEO of the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “The forum allowed us to see Ethiopia’s rapid economic growth and its wide investment opportunities.”
He noted that the gathering created invaluable networking opportunities for Belgian and Ethiopian businessmen to engage with each other and exchange insights about their respective markets.
During the forum, various investment sectors were highlighted, with Ethiopian and Belgian entrepreneurs showcasing an array of products and services.
The sectors of agriculture, renewable energy, information technology, and health emerged as key areas of interest for potential collaboration.
Deboull expressed optimism about these sectors, indicating that they hold significant promise for future investments.
In a landmark conclusion to the forum, the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Belgian Chamber of Commerce signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This agreement outlines collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing trade and investment between Ethiopia and Belgium. Zahara Mohammed, President of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that this MoU will elevate business ties between the two countries to new heights.
“The agreement will create a conducive environment for strengthening trade-to-business relations,” Zahara said.
She reassured attendees that Belgian investors would continue to find favourable investment opportunities within Ethiopia’s vibrant market. As Ethiopia seeks to position itself as a regional hub for investment and commerce, forums like this play a critical role in building international partnerships.
