Ethiopian Electric Power announced that the Gibe 3 Hydropower Plant has generated over 5,430 gigawatt-hours of energy in the past nine months.
Dejene Guta, operation manager of the Gibe 3 Hydropower Plant, stated that the station generated more energy than planned in the past nine months of the 2017 budget year.
He further stated that the plan was to generate 4,725.56 gigawatt-hours of energy in the nine months of the 2017 budget year, but they were able to generate 5,436.5 gigawatt-hours of electrical power.
He also announced that this performance is 710.94 gigawatt-hours, or 15.04 percent above the plan, and 189.65 gigawatt-hours, or 3.61 percent higher compared to the same period last year.

Dejene attributed the results to the regular performance of inspection and monitoring work that enables reliable power generation, the operation work being carried out according to the operational procedures manual approved by the institution's management, and the immediate resolution of power outage indicators and problems (alarms and faults) when observed.
He recalled that the work commenced with the plan to generate 6,141.49 gigawatt-hours of electrical power by the end of the budget year and stated that 88.52 percent of the overall plan has been achieved in the past nine months.
Dejene Guta added that this indicates that the plan set for the budget year is achievable, ENA learned.
