Ethiopia is steadfastly committed to fostering regional peace and promoting sustainable development through strategic partnerships, according to Minister of Peace Mohammed Idris.
During a recent meeting with the Indian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Anil Kumar, Minister Idris emphasized the importance of implementing a robust federalism system, effective conflict management, and the successful navigation of Ethiopia’s diverse social landscape.
Highlighting India’s rich tapestry of cultural diversity, Minister Idris expressed optimism that Ethiopia could glean valuable insights from India’s experiences in managing its complexities.
He noted that both nations share similar challenges and opportunities in their pursuit of unity amidst diversity.
In a complementary statement, Cherugeta Genene, Minister of State for Federalism and Conflict Management, revealed that the Ministry of Peace is actively collaborating with various governmental and non-governmental organizations. Their goal is to strengthen Ethiopia’s federalism framework and modernize its conflict management strategies, ensuring a more cohesive societal structure.
Ambassador Anil Kumar lauded Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to cultivate a new political culture, underscoring India's commitment to support these initiatives.
He assured that India would continue its collaboration with the Ministry of Peace on matters related to federalism, conflict resolution, and diversity management. This partnership not only aims to enhance internal stability but also seeks to contribute positively to the broader regional peace landscape in East Africa.
