Ethiopian Ambassador to Canada Tewodros Girma held discussions with Ian Morissette, Deputy Minister of Mines and Natural Resources of Quebec Province, Canada’s second-largest mineral producer after British Columbia and a leader in advanced mineral database management.
During their discussion, they explored Quebec’s cutting-edge mining technology and management system, the process of making crucial geological research findings accessible to stakeholders, and the province’s modern control and monitoring mechanisms for mining investors.
They also discussed how Ethiopia’s Ministry of Mines, including its experts and leaders, could benefit from Quebec’s experience in these areas.
In response to Ethiopia’s request, the Quebec officials expressed their willingness to share their expertise.
As part of this initiative, a visit was made to Quebec to observe firsthand its capabilities and advanced data management practices in the mining sector.
