Public conferences organized by Ethiopia's ruling Prosperity Party have commenced today in 25 major cities across the country, including Jijiga, Dessie, Gondar, Dire Dawa, Semera, Hawassa, Adama, Wolaita Sodo, Bahir Dar, Arba Minch, and Addis Ababa. The initiative, announced on the party's social media, aims to engage citizens in a national dialogue.
Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie, speaking at one of the conferences, highlighted significant achievements in expanding the political landscape, fostering economic growth, and building sustainable peace. She cited progress made in implementing decisions from the party's first congress, emphasizing inclusive development and widespread public benefit. Specific achievements mentioned included improvements in food security, health, education, and human-centered development, along with enhanced leadership and membership quality, and improved monitoring and evaluation systems.
However, Mayor Adanech also acknowledged ongoing challenges. These include ensuring sustainable peace across the nation, providing satisfactory public services, and overcoming the challenges of misinformation. The Prosperity Party, she stated, remains committed to addressing these shortcomings through continued efforts. The conferences, themed "From Word to Practice," are designed to facilitate open discussion and feedback from a diverse range of participants, including elders, religious leaders, women, youth, and other community members.
