Thousands of Former Combatants Reintegrate in Tigray

Over 5,000 former combatants in the Tigray region have reintegrated into their communities.

The National Rehabilitation Commission announced that 5,728 former combatants have been successfully reintegrated into their communities. Nearly a month has passed since the reintegration program for former combatants began. As of now, a total of 6,625 former combatants have entered the centers, and 5,728 of them have rejoined their communities.

Colonel Belay Abebe, Director of Program Planning and Follow-up at the National Rehabilitation Commission, stated that the Mekelle and Edaga Hamus centers are receiving and training former combatants. He added that preparations are underway to launch a third center in the Adwa area. 889 former combatants are currently undergoing training at the centers. It is expected that by the end of February, 75,000 former combatants will complete their first round of rehabilitation training and rejoin their communities.
