The Ethiopian Federal Police (EFP) has been recognized with the prestigious "Institution Led by Best Management" award at the pan-African level. The accolade was presented during the recent Africa Civil Service Day celebrations held at the African Union headquarters.
The EFP earned this esteemed award for its commitment to providing efficient public services through the strategic adoption of modern technology. This was highlighted during a competitive evaluation across various sectors, where government service institutions showcased their operational excellence.
Commander Demis Yilma, Head of the Federal Police Technology Expansion Department, elaborated on the achievement in an interview with ETV. He underscored the EFP's dedication to crime prevention and ensuring justice, which was significantly bolstered by its innovative use of technology. Notably, the introduction of the "Citizens' Participation Application" (EFPApp) played a crucial role in securing the top spot in Africa, earning the institution a gold award.
The EFPApp empowers citizens to actively participate in crime prevention efforts by allowing them to report incidents directly from their location via their mobile phones.
This recognition comes on the heels of the recently concluded 10th African Regional Forum on Public Service and Administration of African Union Member States, also held at the African Union. The Ethiopian Federal Police has a history of international recognition, having previously received an award at the International Police Summit in Dubai.
