The Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) announced that it is actively working to meet the power supply needs of manufacturing industries.
According to Moges Mekonnen, Head of Public Relations at EEP, a new mobile power distribution substation installed to upgrade the capacity of the Gefersa power distribution station has begun providing service.
He stated that the new 230/15 kilovolt mobile power distribution substation, which is now operational, will increase the station's capacity to 200 megawatts.
Moges also noted that the mobile power distribution substation will eliminate the power interruption problems previously observed in the area. He further explained that the new mobile power distribution substation was installed because the increasing demand for additional power in the area had exceeded the station's capacity.
He highlighted that the installation of mobile substations is a temporary solution for areas requiring power until they acquire their own permanent substations, and also serves to address capacity limitations in existing substations.
Moges specifically emphasized that these efforts will help industries expand and increase their production capacity, adding that EEP will continue to focus on meeting the power demands of industries in the future.
The Gefersa power distribution station has been supplying power to Addis Alem, Fiche, Muger Cement, Ginchi, Gedo, Sebeta, and Shegole through its six lines, FBC reported.
