House of Peoples' Representatives Approves Key Electoral Board Appointments

The Ethiopian House of Peoples' Representatives (HPR) has officially approved the appointments of the deputy chairperson and several management board members for the Ethiopian National Electoral Board (NEBE). The approvals came during the 36th regular session of the 6th House, now in its fourth year of its term.

During the session, the HPR confirmed the appointment of Tesfaye Niway as the new Deputy Chairperson of the NEBE. In addition, Teklit Yemesel and Nesim Ali were appointed as management board members, bolstering the leadership of the nation's electoral body.

Legislative Matters Also Addressed

Beyond the electoral board appointments, the HPR also tackled other significant legislative matters. Lawmakers reviewed a draft proclamation concerning overseas employment for Ethiopians. This important legislation has been referred to the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development, Employment, and Technology Affairs for further consideration.

Furthermore, a draft proclamation focused on plant protection and quarantine measures received unanimous approval from the Council. This crucial piece of legislation has been directed to the Standing Committee on Agriculture for its next steps.
