Ethiopian Airlines is set to begin passenger flights to Sharjah, UAE, on June 1, 2025. The four-times-weekly service will utilize Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, connecting Addis Ababa with the cultural and economic hub.
The new route, announced today, complements Ethiopian's existing cargo operations and aims to enhance travel options for passengers seeking to explore the UAE.
"We are excited to expand our passenger flight network in the U.A.E. with the addition of Sharjah," stated Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew.
Flights will depart Addis Ababa on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 10:05 p.m., arriving in Sharjah at 3:25 a.m. Return flights will depart Sharjah on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 4:25 a.m., arriving in Addis Ababa at 7:45 a.m.
Ethiopian Airlines already operates over 100 weekly flights to the Middle East and has served the UAE since 1979. This new route further strengthens its presence in the region.
