Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie recently held discussions with experts in the field regarding recent earthquakes and tremors across the country, and their overall distribution.
Experts from Addis Ababa University's Geophysics, Space Science, and Astronomy Institute, as well as the Geological Survey, presented their findings. These studies indicate that Addis Ababa is experiencing tremors in connection with the ongoing earthquake activity in the Afar region and surrounding areas.
The experts warned of the need to avoid panic and to follow expert advice should tremors occur.
Mayor Adanech announced on her social media page that an agreement has been reached to form a task force of experts to conduct preventative studies, given Addis Ababa's ongoing vulnerability to earthquakes.
